About Mia

I am a licensed professional counselor serving clients in Boulder, Denver, and the surrounding area as a play therapist and parent coach. I have worked with children, adolescents, and young adults for over 20 years. Extensive training in brain development and regulation of the nervous system enables me to assess and treat the emotional and biological origins of a behavioral challenge.

I believe all behavior has meaning and purpose. I also believe in the innate wisdom of my clients. I strive to provide a safe place where my clients can fully express themselves, discover the many facets of their personalities, and learn who they truly are. I help facilitate their awareness and provide tools and strategies to help connect and empower them. My goal is to assist them in discovering and connecting to their true selves, their parents, caregivers, siblings, and the world around them. As a result, our work together will foster emotional growth and the self-confidence to pursue their highest potential.

The natural beauty of this area invigorates me and inspires me in my work. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring the Colorado outdoors on foot, mountain bike, or snowboard.

“Mia is an superb play therapist. She doesn’t see a child as a predetermined ‘problem’ to be ‘fixed,’ but rather as a unique and precious individual who has important issues to express. She understands why children display the behavior they do, as well as the biology behind it, which enables her to get right to the heart of the matter.”

-Lisa Dion, Director and Clinical Supervisor at Play Therapy Insitute of Colorado
